Awareness on site
Assaultive or transgressive behavior, discrimination and sexualized violence can also occur in occupations. The awareness team is there for you if you experience this. We are also approachable in cases of overstimulation, excessive demands and stressful situations.
We work with those affected. We are clearly partisan with those affected and work with power of definition. Since we do not have the capacity to accompany processes, we also work with sanction power. The terms are explained below.
Awareness is a collective task!
Please take care of each other, be there for each other and be considerate!
Talk about needs and boundaries in your reference groups and structures. Be aware that your actions also have consequences for other people. People have different experiences and are affected differently by discrimination. Situations like police confrontation, fascists or evictions can trigger people.
If you observe transgressive behavior, speak up to the person affected. Ask if the person would like support.

Team
Our awareness team includes trans*, PoC and neurodivergent people who are happy to support you. People can offer awareness in areas of their respective experiences of discrimination, however not all people are available at every shift. Awareness can take place in German and English.
Framework of our awareness work
We are active whenever we can and try to respond to the needs of those affected as much as possible.
We are not conflict resolution, but there to give victims of discrimination or sexualized violence space to talk and to stand by them.
Also in eviction situations we will try to support you as good as possible. However, our work will be limited. We will probably not be able to carry out the eviction of one person in an eviction situation. In any other situation, where an eviction is desired by the person concerned (see sanctioning power), we have the right to enforce it.
Explanation of terms
Power of definition
By power of definition we mean that due to individually different experienced and perceived violence, it can only be defined by the affected person when violence begins, boundaries are crossed and what is perceived as violence. Thus, the naming of violence/the crossing of boundaries by the affected person should not be questioned under any circumstances.
Partiality
By partiality we mean that affected persons are assured of trust. This is especially important because trust has usually been lost in an incident where boundary-crossing behavior has occurred. In addition to trust that has been taken, a space that was previously perceived as safe has suddenly been destroyed. This needs to be restored. In order to do this, one should take sides, namely for the affected person
A “neutral” stance in such a situation is not possible, nor does it make sense. In the end, it only harms the affected person and protects the accused person. This is because any kind of questioning or even “nicely meant” inquiries put the person concerned in a position where he or she has to justify him or herself and his or her account is called into question.
Sanctioning power
Since we do not have the capacity to accompany processes in our staffing, we work with sanction power. This means that the affected person can decide how we should deal with the perpetrator of violence or what the consequences will be.
