Basics, reference groups and danger of eviction

In order to fight together for the Wuhlheide, it is important to create a place that is open for all people. Therefore, we reject any form of discriminatory behavior. We actively try to fight against Ableism, Queerphobia, Classism, Anti-Semitism, Racism and Sexism in and outside our structures. In doing so, the definition of transgressive, discriminatory behavior lies solely with the person(s) affected. We take those affected seriously and act in a clearly partisan manner in these situations. We are aware that discriminatory behavior can also be reproduced in our structures. We try to establish safer spaces.

Don’t talk to cops
We reject the institution of the police and would like to see a new concept in society to deal with the tasks that the police currently cover. For this, we demand the abolition of the police, a violent institution that enforces the interests of the state, corporations and property. Because the defense of capitalism leads to climate catastrophe and injustice. Many people experience different levels of violence from the police depending on their privileges. Due to e.g. racist, ableist, classist experiences and/or activities in political struggles, many people are traumatized by police violence. It is important to position ourselves clearly and not talk to the police.

Reference groups and buddies
Don’t go to the occupation alone. Find another person you trust and form a buddy team. With your buddy you should exchange experiences and fears. Agree on what your limits are, how you will handle confrontation with the police, and what your action level is.
You can form a reference group with other buddies. In your reference group, make sure to protect BIPoCs, people with disabilities, and people who are discriminated against by society, and communicate your limits and needs.
Feel free to come to the vigil first, it is registered, meaning: cops have to let you go there! Also, you can get information there.
If you don’t have a person who can go with you, you can join others at the vigil.

Skills
Skills are tools or methods to get you down from or before a high-stress situation. Examples of skills are chili, smelling sticks, cold water, or even breathing exercises.
Each person can create a personal skill chain for themselves. This means collecting 4 – 5 skills that help you personally. Share these with the caregiver. It is best to write them down on a piece of paper and carry it with you, so that people other than the caregiver know about them and can support you in case of need.

Eviction situation
In the course of occupation and eviction situations, there can be high levels of stress.
Eviction probably means facing violent police officers, making quick decisions, or living in a confined space for a long time with people without a place to retreat. Therefore, it is important to address potential tensions and fears and share experiences to learn from each other. Feel free to form action reference groups with people you trust. With them you can talk about these things to minimize avoidable stress situations and prepare for the actions in the best possible way.

No Photo
Please do not take photos on site. Do not make it easier for the police and fascists. On photo you are recognizable, even if you are masked. This can be used for “prosecution”. Repressions are shit, being recognized by fascists is shit. Other people don’t want to be photographed by you either.
There will be photographers on site. We sensitize photographers to ask before photos are taken. You are also welcome to tell the photographers nicely.

Drug consumption

We also rely on personal responsibility when it comes to the consumption of drugs of any kind (alcohol, nicotine, etc.). Nevertheless, please be sure to talk to the people in your affinity groups and around you. In evacuation situations, however, drug use can lead to dangerous situations, so please pay special attention to yourself and others!
